Overview & Description

Fire Ball Burning Bush (Euonymus alatus Select) is a superior hardy, compact deciduous shrub prized for its brilliant fall colour and tidy, rounded form. Its dense, tightly branched habit features bright green foliage throughout the growing season, which transforms into an intense, fiery red in autumn, with the best colour achieved in full sun. This improved selection offers excellent pest resistance and low-maintenance performance.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a dense, rounded, compact growth habit. It is a moderate-growing shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 5-6.5 feet in height with a spread of 4-5 feet.

Additional Notes

Fall colour is the primary ornamental feature; small yellowish-green flowers in spring are inconspicuous. Hardy to Zone 3, it is drought-tolerant once established and thrives in full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil. An outstanding choice for hedges, mass plantings, foundation plantings, and accent specimens where vibrant autumn colour, compact form, and reliable hardiness are desired.
