Folks, if you are looking for an ornamental grass that provides a stunning splash of color and texture all season long, you have to get your hands on Blue Bristle Grass. This isnt your average green grass; its upright blades are a beautiful steely-blue color, forming a tidy clump that adds a cool, sophisticated look to any garden. It reaches a manageable size of 2-3 feet tall and wide, making it perfect for borders, rock gardens, or as a contrasting plant against darker foliage. In the summer, it sends up slender stalks topped with feathery, pinkish-purple flower plumes that float above the foliage, adding movement and a lovely soft texture. It thrives in full sun and is very drought-tolerant once established, so it’s a great choice for a low-water landscape. And the best part? Its tough texture is a natural deterrent, so deer and rabbits will generally leave it alone.
