Sambucus ‘Gate in Field’ is a rare and vigorous elder hybrid, known for its extra large, fragrant flower heads that bloom later than most elders, from July to September. Its dark pink flushed foliage with pale midribs creates a stunning contrast, adding depth and texture to the garden.

Incredibly fast-growing, it can reach 5m in just 18 months, making it a perfect choice for those seeking quick impact greenery. One of its most unique traits is its unexpected almond and gooseberry flavour notes, setting it apart from traditional elder varieties.

As featured on BBC Gardeners’ World, this exceptional hybrid is ideal for gardeners looking for something rare, beautifully scented and fast growing.
