A compact evergreen hebe with dense green leaves and purple flower spikes in summer and early autumn.

Why we like it

• Purple flower spikes
• Evergreen rounded outline
• Useful for patio pots and borders

What to know

• Choose full sun or light shade with shelter from cold winds.
• Plant in moist but well-drained soil; avoid ground that stays waterlogged in winter.
• Water regularly through the first growing season and check pots in dry weather.
• Remove faded flower spikes and lightly trim after flowering, avoiding hard cuts into bare wood.
• Protect container plants during severe frost; these broad-leaved hebes suit sheltered Irish gardens.
